If I install normally, VMLite Workstation cannot access the USB proxy service. I also cannot install the VMLiteUSBMon service manually (go to C:Program FilesVMLiteVMLite Workstationdriversusbmonitor) and use the INF-File rightclick - install. I have an eseek model 200 2D barcode reader that uses FTDI drivers that I am trying to use with VMLite XP Mode. The drivers create a virtual COM port.
I have added the COM port in the serial ports in the workstation. However, I am not sure which option to use: Host Device, Host Pipe or Raw File. I have tried them all and none seem to bring the COM port into the vm. Only LPT1 shows up in Device Manager on the vm.
I also added the 'FTDI USB <-> Serial' device/driver to the USB devices in workstation. This seems to crash the vm. When I start the vm, it opens a window titled 'VMLite XP Mode Starting' as it normally does, but it also opens a second window called 'VMLite XP Mode spawning' which seems to get to 20% and hang. I waited about 5 minutes for it to complete but it didn't complete.
If I take out the 'FTDI USB <-> Serial' device in workstation, the vm starts.
ISSUE #2:
Possible minor glitch: If you click anything listed in the Devices > USB Devices menu in VMLite XP Mode, it crashes the vm.
Everything else I have tried works great in VMLite (sound, video, mouse, touchscreen). VMLite works MUCH better than Windows XP Mode or VMWare Player. Very impressive responsiveness; seems almost as fast as host.
